“Oh [Morocco], I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord…’Look! Your Savior is coming. See, He brings His reward with Him as He comes.’” (Isaiah 62:6, 11b)
PRAY WITH CULTURAL INSIGHT
At the heart of the region of Fes and Meknes is the continent’s oldest, continuously running Islamic university. This heritage of intellectual fallacy has soaked deeply into the very ground these cities were constructed on and petrified there until its inhabitants deal with spiritual issues from a place of remote detachment with closed minds and hearts of stone. Known as the nation’s “Spiritual Capital” and barometer for spiritual fervor, this reputation constantly throws up barriers to people’s willingness to even consider there might be another way. It’s a matter of duty and legacy to uphold the teachings of the Islamic faith.
Ask for the God who softens hearts of stone and rewrites reputations to bring breakthrough in this region of conservative Islam. Ask that the religion’s inconsistency, particularly relevant in this month of fasting, would be exposed. Ask that the heart needs of Moroccans would override any intellectual brainwashing and that they would know true peace through Jesus.
PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS
Paul reasoned daily in the hall of Tyrannnus and we’re told “this continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.” (Acts 19:10)
Oh God, empower Believers in Morocco to boldly, faithfully, and consistently proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom so that all Moroccans would hear the Word of the Lord and have an opportunity to respond to it. Break through the centuries of false teaching and the intellectual monuments erected to a false reasoning. Give Your people the stamina to suffer long with the stubborn hearts of those who often engage in intellectual debate rather than engaging faith at a heart level.
PRAY FOR SATURATION
“Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root…The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.” (Matthew 13:5-6 and 20-21)
In order for gospel saturation to be reached in Morocco, we must pray preparation over the soil of hearts so that the seeds of the gospel can go deep, take root, and remain to grow and multiply. Pray this for Morocco today, that seeds of Truth will not just bounce off hearts of stone but sink deeply into richly prepared soil.
God, we worship You, Our God of breakthrough! We are believing You can break through the hardest of hearts and bring transformation…
