PRAY THE PICTURE

Every day, we invite you into the ancient spiritual prayer practices of Lectio and Visio Divina. Each day you will be given a picture to meditate on in prayer, Visio Divina or “eating/digesting the image,” asking the Holy Spirit to prompt things from the image for you to pray into and to fill the image with spiritual meaning. Most of these visuals will connected to the concept of “Saturation” and will be connected to the insights included in each day’s prayer fuel.

We encourage you to start your prayer time each day by sitting in silence with the picture and listening for the Holy Spirit’s direction. It might also be meaningful to return to the image after you have read the additional pieces of the prayer fuel, using it to wrap up your time of intercession and giving the Holy Spirit the opportunity to speak through it on even deeper levels. May you be blessed as you engage your Creator in visually inspired prayer.

PRAY WITH CULTURAL INSIGHT

The region of Tangier and Tetouan lies at the northernmost tip of the nation and is famous for its seaport that connects Morocco to Europe. For this reason, it is often known as the “Gateway to Europe.” For many Moroccans and other Africans, this region represents their ticket out, to the West. This has resulted in a deep-rooted “flee mentality” in many Moroccans from this area, always believing a better life is just beyond the sea. What that means for the Church is a default setting to hardships that urges them to run rather than to hold their ground and fight against spiritual oppression. There’s a deep discontent about their lives in Africa that is fed by their close proximity to Europe—an almost literal “grass is greener” mindset—and when it is left unaddressed and unredeemed this can morph into a disdain for their own country and culture. This wreaks havoc on relationships—between Moroccans, between Believers.

We believe Moroccan culture is originally God-designed and thus able to be redeemed. We believe that the Global Church needs the giftings and perspectives that God is specifically holding for the Moroccan branch of that Church, and we are asking that our local Brothers and Sisters would seek His vision of their unique role and contribution to the Global Body of Christ and claim it, until a God-birthed passion for Morocco and her patchwork of cultures spreads from Tangier/Tetouan to the rest of the nation.

Ask Father to give the people of this region a heart for their nation, a desire to stay in their networks and spheres of influence and be light to the people they were raised with, and deep appreciation and respect for one another births a culture of unity. Ask that the lie of “Western Promised Lands” be broken down, and that their hearts would long for the Kingdom of Heaven here in this nation instead.

PRAY THE WORD

Each day, as we engage the practice of Lectio Divina, “eating/digesting the Word,” the Scripture we will pray comes from a community of prayer from within Morocco that has been praying Saturation over Morocco.

Adjective: “Saturated”—holding as much water or moisture as can be absorbed; thoroughly soaked
Noun: “Saturation”—the degree or extent to which something is completely absorbed

This group is daring to pray audacious prayers of saturation—asking for God’s Kingdom to come to Morocco to such an extent that it is completely absorbed in His truth, presence, and transformation. Keep this in mind as you pray these Scriptures and join with those who are already praying audacious prayers on behalf of Morocco.

Ephesians 2:20 “Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.”

Isaiah 28:16 “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.”

Pray that the Moroccan church would be built on the Cornerstone, Jesus Christ, that stands in strong contrast to the foundation and pillars of Islam
