PRAISE
“They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” (Psalm 1:3)
PRAY WITH CULTURAL INSIGHT
Morocco is a hostile place for believers in Jesus. Persecution is inevitable. Because of their faith:
~ some may be shunned by family or community
~ some may be physically hurt or threatened
~ some may face injustice in the workplace or be fired from their jobs
~ some may face divorce and be separated from their children
~ some may be consumed by loneliness, depression or fear
But here’s the thing:
The early church grew miraculously in the most hostile of circumstances- both in depth and breadth, faith and numbers. Let’s pray for the Moroccan church to do the same! Ramadan is difficult time for believers in Morocco. While the circumstances around them provide opportunity for sharing their faith, they also provide opportunities for persecution and discouragement.
Pray that the peace of Christ would dwell powerfully in their hearts today administering the strength, encouragement and increase of the Holy Spirit this Ramadan! And pray that they would be used across their spiritually dark nation as they usher in a movement of disciples and churches through the light they carry.
PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS
“And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.” (Acts 11:21)
Even in the midst of persecution, you empowered your disciples to lead many to faith in you. Please do it again, Lord, in Morocco. As they suffer, may they know Your Hand is with them, and may they know You better in Your suffering on their behalf.
PRAY FOR SATURATION
Water is required for things to grow. Without the Lord sending the rain of His Spirit, there can be no new life, no salvation. At the same time, when the seed is sown the soil must receive it and roots must go deep to withstand storms and access underground streams in a dry climate. Jeremiah 17:8 describes a believer who is like a strong, thriving tree: “For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Use this verse to pray for believers in Morocco. Without strong, storm-weathering, deep-rooted followers, the Gospel will not spread in this nation. Pray not only for the nation to be saturated with the Good News, but for the deep roots in those who believe so they can weather the storms with unshakable faith. Pray that they would be fearless and fruitful as they proclaim the Gospel!
