PRAISE
“The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” (Psalm 29:3-4)
PRAY WITH CULTURAL INSIGHT
Nestled in the foothills of the Middle Atlas Mountains is the city of Beni-Mellal, the major city of the Beni-Mellal/Khenifra Region of Morocco, known primarily for their agricultural and textile products. Lack of education and poverty are major issues in the region holding the highest illiteracy rate in the nation, so the proclamation efforts in this area are focused primarily on media outlets and audio recordings of the Word. And these efforts are producing fruit in this region, particularly among women, who have historically been marginalized and denied education.
Ask Father that these beginning seedlings of faith will take deep roots, like many of the crops produced in the region, that they will be watered by His Spirit, and that they would multiply. Ask for a deepening maturity among believers and a desire to gather together into faith communities who understand the importance of coming together. Ask for a breaking of the wide-spread oppression of ignorance, illiteracy, and poverty.
PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS
“Then they gathered around Him and asked Him, ‘Lord, are You at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:6-8)
Lord, it seems like there are few things that reach to the ends of the earth like the Internet. But our words are empty and meaningless without Your Spirit. Your Words are the words of life. Breathe Your Spirit on the regions of Morocco, onto those encountering Your Word online. Bring revival. Give Your people patience to wait on Your timing, and to persevere in faithfulness.
PRAY FOR SATURATION
An often looked down upon device in the western Church, the smart phone is revolutionizing how ministry is done, particularly in nations closed to the Gospel. An idea known as “Media to Movements” is sweeping across the 10-40 Window as workers see the advantages of the prevalence of screens in the pockets of those we are aiming to proclaim truth to. Social media platforms provide ample opportunities for faith-building content to be pushed out to wide swaths of the population, and algorithms allow specific demographics to be highlighted, including age range, geographic location, gender, and educational background. This allows content developers to generate relevant media (videos, memes, ads, and Bible studies) around the interests of those in their area at any given time. Because almost everyone has access to some kind of smart device, this allows us to proclaim truth simultaneously to thousands of Muslims in a single day—something not even the most extroverted, high-capacity evangelists among us can do.
Praise Father for this redemptive use of technology. Pray protection over those risking connection to these platforms, particularly local believers that interact with seekers online, and have to filter through all the muck thrown at them online to find the pearls. Pray for the confidence of those seeking for truth to eventually transition from a semi-anonymous interaction with a stranger online, to a higher-risk, in-person discipleship relationship with others.
