PRAISE

“Keep cleansing me, God, and keep me from my secret, selfish sins; may they never rule over me! For only then will I be free from fault and remain innocent of rebellion.” (Psalm 19:13)

PRAY WITH CULTURAL INSIGHT

A gateway region, Souss-Massa is often called the “Door to the Desert” because to get to the southern, desert regions of Morocco, you must first pass through the region of Souss-Massa. This region of Morocco is unique because it seems to struggle with a bit of a split personality disorder. In one persona you will encounter some beautiful coastal cities like Agadir, that attract many beach-going travelers and retirees looking to relax; several important economic contributions, like the infamous cash crop, the argan nut, used to make the expensive cosmetic additive argan oil, and the yummy nut butter known as amlou; and fascinating cultural cities, renown for the handicrafts, including hand-painted pottery and impressive silverwork.

In the other persona you will find serious levels of oppression and abuse against women and children; poverty-stricken rural communities; and nearly suffocating levels of shame and fear in the spiritual atmosphere.

Like a beautifully decorated piece of pottery that is full of rot and filth, pray for a cleansing of Moroccan societies that think that appearances are all that count, that sin is only problematic if you get caught, and that, once accrued, shame has no cure. Pray for the bondage-breaking Holy Spirit to come and reconcile the competing realities in the lives of Moroccans.

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) God, thank You that when we repent, You refresh. Bring the refreshment of repentance to the people of Morocco. Show them how much You desire to replace their shame with robes of righteousness, provided by the blood of Jesus.

PRAY FOR SATURATION

As many have prayed saturation over the nation of Morocco, a repeating image the Spirit brings to mind to aid our intercession is a fully sated sponge, dripping with soapy water, coming to provide a complete cleansing. We know that the justice and righteousness of God are important parts of His character we are meant to reflect to this world, and that His lavish grace in no way diminishes His holiness. So a deep cleansing will be a significant part of His saturating work in this nation as He washes and redeems each of the 12 regions from their centuries of generational sins and inherited shame.

Pray for the humbled posture necessary for the Spirit to do His purifying work, especially among the Church in Morocco, foreign and local. May they long for holiness to such a degree that they are willing to endure the difficulties of being purged of self, pride, ego, and delusions of what they think remains hidden.

WORSHIP

God, we worship You know every part of us, the driest and darkest parts of us, and You long to bring healing and restoration to them through Your healing Spirit…
