Families - Generations of Faith

Meditate on this Psalm as you enter a time of worship.

“Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will proclaim your praise.”
Psalm 79:13

Name of God

Abba Father

Begin to worship God the Father, the designer of families.

Take some time to sit in the Lord’s presence worshipping Him as our Abba, our Father.

Worship him for the great love the Father has lavished on you, that you should be called a child of his! (1 John 3:1)

Worship Him for adopting you as a son or daughter into His precious family. (Galatians 4:5-7)

(Worship our Lord in prayer and move forward when ready)

Worship Him on behalf of Moroccans who are yet to know or understand the great love of their Heavenly Father.

Worship in Music

Housefires – Good, Good Father

As you turn your prayers toward Morocco, praise Him for the work He is doing among Moroccans as they come to Jesus as families.

Testimony of Praise

Aziz has always worked hard and gone searching for what he wanted. This includes things of faith. Through a friend, he was invited to study the Bible. He began coming – hungry and curious to learn more about the God of the Bible.

Testimony of Praise

He would go home and tell his wife what he was learning. Because of this, they journeyed to faith in Jesus together and were eventually baptized on the same day. Now, they are raising their two little ones to know Jesus!

It didn’t stop there! Aziz’s Father is no longer living and therefore, he is the main provider for his mother, brothers and sisters. They, too, know of his faith and are curious and open to hear the stories of the Bible.

Praise the Lord for families like Aziz’s who are discovering God together!

Take 30-60 seconds to silently look at this photo.

What does this image prompt you to pray as you consider Moroccans coming to the Lord together as families?

Take some time to pray for the things the Holy Spirit puts on your heart.

Family - A Cornerstone in Morocco

Loyalty and honor within families is highly valued.  They work hard for one another and have an attitude of ‘what’s mine is yours’.

It is almost solely in family circles that trust is found (and difficult to find outside of family circles).

Traditionally, sons bring their wives into the family home by adding an addition to the house and continuing to contribute to the greater family needs.

Family - A Cornerstone in Morocco

Fathers typically play the role of provider, decision maker and ruler.

Mothers typically play the role of housekeeper, child disciplinarian and religious keeper.

Daughters are often placed under high expectations of the cultural restrictions consistent with a conservative Islamic society. They are also expected to make significant contributions in the home.

Sons are often given too much freedom and not taught responsibility until an age when laziness is hard to break.

Family - A Cornerstone in Morocco

Knowing the loyalty and close connectedness in which Moroccan families function, take some time to pray –

For the gospel to enter whole family units.

That the gospel would no longer sever these close family ties, rather, bring families even closer together.

For a generation to rise up in a bold search and hunger, leading their families to Truth.

That the future of Morocco would be changed as a result of families journeying to Jesus together.

Close your time of prayer thanking our Father in Heaven.  Praise Him for being “Our Father”.  Pray the Lord’s Prayer outloud if possible:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Your’s is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
